HAPPY NEW YEAR!! We got up this morning to cold. OK I know for those of you still in the frigid North, 47 degrees isn’t cold, but with the wind out on the water, it’s seemed much colder than that. We’ve decided to stay in Charleston for a couple of days, at least through Monday, to try to get the refrigeration problems and the outboard issues resolved. We’ve pulled into City Marina, where we’ll get some showers, laundry done, and we can get some other provisions etc. We’re off for now to do some exploration, but we’ll write more later.
So we got showered, pulled ourselves together and walked up to the office to see about the Marina’s free shuttle to downtown - they were nice enough to run us into town off schedule, and no sooner had we walked two blocks than who did we run into but John and Pat!! We all had a good chuckle, I mean, we know no-one else in all of Charleston, and honestly, what was the likelihood that we’d be walking down the same street as they were at precisely the same time? We decided to walk over to the market and grab a bite to eat and a beer. We had yet another wonderful meal with them, and of course it was great to catch up with them, even though it had only been a couple of days! We parted ways on Market Street, knowing that we’ll run into one another again in the upcoming weeks :). They’re headed out of Charleston tomorrow, and Brian and I are going to remain here for a few days - at least until Monday - so that we can deal with the freezer and a few other items on our to fix list before we head further south.
We walked back to the marina down King Street to Calhoun, and stopped in the park to admire the lit trees and the 100′ tree made of lights. When we got back here, I did some laundry while Brian worked on culling through our pictures, so we can add some visuals to go along with our posts.
For now, it’s off to bed. Hopefully we’ll do some more exploration of Charleston tomorrow… and we’re hoping it will be a little warmer!

HI Sally and Beth,
I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog, lots of fun to be keeping! I am sure too that it’ll be great to be able to look back and read when we’re back from the trip. A reminder of all of our adventures!
Very excited that if we have to delay a bit for parts it’s in Charleston, I loved visiting here this past spring, so it’s neat to be back and to get to see some of the things that I missed last time!
Hope you guys are staying warm!
Love,
-Lynne

Happy New Year’s people. Didn’t know I had made your blog until someone sent me the information.
Certainly appreciated your help and hospitality in Belhaven and hope we meet up at some point along the way.
At least you seem to be making headway south! Am in Oriental enjoying their hospitality waiting for the winds to die down, as usual. 35/40 with gusts to 45/50 is rather uncomfortable.
Cheers,
John “Song of the Mira”
